LEED-Certifiable Renovation for Long Island Museum

[soliloquy id="645"]

The former Long Island residence of the Bauer family, close to and very visible from Route 25A, will find a new life as the visitors center of the 16-acre Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe. One of the main challenges with this type of renovation is taking a residential building and repurposing it to meet commercial requirements, among those accessibility, fire protection, and egress. In addition, the renovated building must withstand the new floor load requirements of a museum visitors center. Not only did Paul Cataldo Architecture & Planning meet and exceed these requirements, but the new center will also be LEED-certifiable with high performance construction techniques that our office is so well versed in.
